Last weekend, 9 members of the 1st Charleville Girl Guides took on 'Charleville Challenge '13 Camp' at the Mangalore Campgrounds. The girls had to rise the challenge of putting up their own tents, erecting flagpoles and a ridge tent (shade), as well as prepare their own meals and clean up after themselves. The highlight of the camp for many was the 'Camp Mud-galore' Mud slide the girls constructed on the river bank. Congratulations girls - you all took on personal challenges and came out better people and Guides at the end of the weekend.

During 2013, the girls of 1st Charleville Girl Guides, decided to raise funds to purchase lifestraws to send to their sister Guides in Pakistan. After many hours of selling self-made ribbon bookmarks, the girls raised enough money to buy 2 lifestraws. Lifestraws Australia heard of our efforts and kindly decided to donate a lifestraw too. So this week, the girls sent 3 lifestraws to the Pakistan Girl Guide Association, where we hope they will be used to help children access clean water. |
