Trek to the Outback (T2O-21) Go on an adventure with your local Guide group and head to outback Charleville. Half the fun is getting there and back! Our logo consists of a map of Queensland with footprints showing how Guides will come from all over to Charleville, a town in the South West. The Queensland Girl Guide logo features in the top right. The logo also has the Charleville Girl Guide mascot, an endangered bilby who has a special breeding program in Charleville. Camp Groups
Trek to the Outback has 4 Camping Groups and 1 Central Group. Participants will be camping with others from their area and may be joined with other areas to make up each group. Each group has a colour and animal mascot. The groups are:
* Coral (Pink) Cockatoos: Camp Central
* Purple Possums: Gold Coast and Tropical North
* Blue Brolgas: John Oxley, Southern Cross and Moreton
* Copper (Red) Kangaroos (incorporating SLUG): Major Mitchell Region (including Lones)
* Green Goannas: Brisbane North, Glasshouse, Capricorn and Wide Bay

Camp Map
T2O will be held at the Charleville Showgrounds on Partridge Street. The entrance is opposite the Charleville racecourse. There will be four camp areas around the main oval of the showgrounds. Check out what the areas look like in our video.
General Information
Anticipated group size – the camp is split into 4 groups of about 25 Guides and at least 8 leaders
Sleeping arrangements – this is an outdoors camp, groups will bring their own tents and individuals bring their own bed rolls - full equipment list is available above Fitness level required – there will be lot of walking, especially for the wet and wild, hike and wide game session (not to mention the barn dance), so yes, you need to be fit Leader to Guide ratio – each Group will need to meet the ratio set by Guidelines according to the age and number of girls, leaders should have the relevant qualifications for camping Transport options to/from camp – groups need to arrange their own transport to and from the event, most groups are driving Weather - no rain is forecast, but it may be windy. Temperatures can get up to 35 degrees during the day, while at night it can get down to 5 degrees. Visit the BOM forecast here. |
Catering - ingredients will be supplied, meals will be prepared and cooked in Groups. Leaders are encouraged to have girls cook own meals where possible. There will be an ability to have fires in drums or to cook using gas. There will be one night catered for by a local organisation. A menu is supplied below.
Cold Rooms - we have two large cold rooms, one shared between Kangaroos and Goannas and one shared between Brolgas and Possums. Toilet and Showers - there are several amenities block spread around the showgrounds with standard flushing toilets and showers with town water. Payment - this is made by individuals to Guides Qld via the registration website. Payments by the website have closed and any overdue payments need to be made directly with Guides Qld. Water - there are taps around the campsite with access to town water. Charleville accesses bore water from the Artesian Basin. |

The T2O Trek Quiz
The drive out to Charleville is a long one, but there is lots to see if you look closely. Individually or in groups complete this quiz as you travel out to Charleville. Hand in your completed quiz upon arrival at camp to go in the running for a prize. How many answers can you find along the way?

The Billabong: Central Well Being
The Billabong will be located just behind Central Coral Cockatoos and Central Catering. It is a place camp participants can go when they need a short break.
Youth and Leaders will be able to visit the Billabong to have a chat with Alkoomi and Curlew, chill out and cool down before heading back to their groups.
The local Coffee Van will be visiting the Billabong each morning at 7am for leaders who may wish to purchase a real coffee.
