L and L, two of our 1st Charleville Girl Guides, celebrated achieving their Junior BP Awards with lots of colour at a ceremony at the Guide Hut with their fellow Guides. The Junior BP is one of three peak awards in Guiding and involves completing challenges in Promise and Law, World Guiding, Service, Outdoors, Patrol System and Guiding Traditions. Leader, Currawong, presented the girls with their awards, a rainbow cake and special rainbow hats for the occasion and read out the challenges the Guides had completed over that last 18 months. Members of 1st Charleville Girl Guides joined the Charleville Scout Group to conduct the 2019 Charleville ANZAC Youth Vigil: guarding the Charleville Cenotaph through the night of 24th April until the dawn service on 25 April. Participants conducted 30 minute long shifts to guard the cenotaph, standing behind the stone statues at the corners, with many during multiple shifts through the night. While not on guard participants completed communication related activities such as Morse code, semaphore, using two-way radios and more. All then attended the Dawn Service with many returning later in the morning to participate in the town march and attend the morning service. BRAVO to all the Guides and Scouts involved in this challenging but important event.
